Obituary of Charles E Kelly
Charles E. Kelly, 74, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Abbott House in Lynn following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Janet (Caley) Kelly with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late William and Philo (Broughton) Kelly. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1955. After high school, Charlie attended Salem State College for a couple of years.
Charlie started his own sheet metal company, Keltronics, after college and owned and operated it for over 37 years before he retired. He also was very active in Peabody youths sports and coached little league baseball for a few years as well.
Besides his loving wife, Charlie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carrie Kelly of Peabody, his daughter, Karen Hayward of Peabody, his three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Patricia Kelly, Winn Kelly, and Richard and Barbara Kelly, all of Peabody, his three grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, and Jeremy Kelly, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and the extended Kelly family. He was the brother of the late Jenny Mansfield, Elizabeth Buckley, Louise McVann, and Doris Pinto.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 12 Washington St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, Charlie and his family would prefer donations be made in his name to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 12 Washington St., Peabody, MA 01960.
