Obituary of Stephen J. Stepenuck

Stephen J. Stepenuck, 89 years, of Peabody, husband of the late Elizabeth F. (Coughlin) Stepenuck died Feb. 12 at a local nursing home. Mr. Stepenuck was born April 20, 1913 in Peabody, son of the late Jacob and Motra (Romanuk) Stepanuk and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. After working in the leather industry, Mr. Stepenuck resumed his career in the brokerage business until his retirement in 1987. He was a registered representative of the New York Stock Exchange and a member of the Boston Securities Traders Assoc. He worked mainly for F. S. Moseley & Co. In his youth he played with the Crescent Hockey Club and was Caddy Master at the Salem Country Club. He was a member of the Minuteman Sportsman Club and the Danvers Fish and Game Club. He is survived by a son and his wife, Stephen J. Stepenuck, Jr. and Therese Stepenuck of NH; two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances A. Stepenuck of Peabody and Joanne and Paul Kench of Needham; a brother, Lawrence Stepenuck of Salem; a sister, Mary Dempsey of Natick; five grandchildren, Kathleen Stepenuck of NH, Kristine Stepenuck of WI, Scott Stepenuck of NY, Meredith Kench of Brighton and Jonathan Kench of Needham and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Wanda Wheat and Walter and Daniel Stepenuck. His funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location 978-531-0472 followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
