Florence H. (Cacciagrani) Ciampa
PEABODY—Florence H. (Cacciagrani) Ciampa, 95, beloved wife of the late Octavio “Ted” Ciampa, passed away peacefully early Friday morning January 20, 2012 at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Nazzareno and Laura (Giraldi) Cacciagrani. She grew up in Hyde Park. When her husband, "Ted," was serving in the Army during World War II, she took classes in decorating. She opened her own wallpaper and paint and decorating retail store.
She surprised her husband with the money she saved during the war, and a flourishing business partnership blossomed along with their amazing life together. Ted's brother Ed joined them in the business, and the three enjoyed a long partnership. Florence operated Supreme Wallpaper & Paint, located in Ball Square, Somerville, MA. She was proud that she was able to build the new building 30 years ago that still houses the business today. Supreme Paint and Wallpaper Co. Inc. was sold fifteen years ago.
Florence enjoyed business, and was a wiz with finances and stocks. She was a generous spirit, and often contributed to the benefit of Lahey Clinic. She enjoyed getting dressed up to go out dining and dancing, and traveling. She traveled to several countries around the world along with enjoying many cruises . She loved being outside, and enjoyed gardening—especially growing African violets. While retired, she also spent time at her condo in Highland Beach, a section of Boca Raton, FL.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Edward & his wife Grace Ciampa of Medford, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Octavio, by her siblings Anita Massimi Consolmagno, Olga Santoro, Irma De Angelis, Albert Cacciagrani and Vincent Cacciagrani, and her long time friend and companion Joseph Mennino.
