Obituary of Eleanor M. (Mello) Marshall

Eleanor M. (Mello) Marshall, 87, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning at her home. She was the wife of the late James S. Marshall. Born and raised in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Manuel P. and Lena E. (Salvadore) Mello. She attended Danvers Public Schools and graduated from Holten High School, class of 1933. She later moved to Peabody and has spent the last 60 years living in Peabody. She had worked for over 30 years for the city Peabody, first as an assistant in the City Clerks Office and then as a secretary in the business office for the City of Peabody School Department. After her retirement from the city, she spent many years working with the Lalikos Family at their Lowe Mart Store and NEAT Impressions, both on Lowell Street in Peabody. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-laws, James and Ann Marshall of Hagerstown, MD, and John and Elaine Marshall of Peabody; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Elwin Bell of Danvers, and Marjorie Schevis of Wolfeboro, NH; a brother-in-law, Donald Maguire of Edgartown; a sister-in-law, Helen Mello of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, Kevin and his wife Kim Marshall, and Amy, Mary, Anthony, and Edward Marshall; 2 great grandchildren, Vinnie and Emily Marshall, and several nieces, nephews , friends and cousins. She was the sister of the late Roger and John Mello and Hazel Maguire. She was the long time companion of the former mayor of Peabody, the late Philip C. O’ Donnell. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Haven from Hungar, 72 Wallis St., Peabody, Ma. 01960 in her memory..
