Obituary of George F. Gill
George F. Gill, 85, of Peabody, died early Thursday afternoon at the Peabody Glen Nursing home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Mildred A. (McLean) Gill.
Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Bernard and Rena (Larabee) Gill. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Eastman Gelatin Company in Peabody for over 32 years as a welder. He also was a member of the B.P.O.E.Elks 1409 in Peabody.
He is survived by a son, Edward L. Gill of Gloucester; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Hallinan of Peabody; 2 sisters, Florence Reid and Helen Sullivan, both of Peabody; 4 grandchildren, Donna and Deborah Hallinan, and Diane Gill, all of Peabody and Michael Gill of Salem, and three great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Bernard, Edward, and Alice Gill, and Evelyn Kimball, and was the father-in-law of the late Gloria Gill.
His Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuseday from 4-8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
