Obituary of Ned Leone

Nazareno “Ned” Leone, 92, of Peabody and formerly of Brighton, died Wednesday evening at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Frances “Fran” (DeMasi) Leone with whom he shared over 56 years of marriage. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late Carmine and Loretta (Tramandazzi) Leone. He was raised and educated in Brighton, later lived in New York and has spent the last 46 years living in Peabody. After finishing high school, Ned was drafted by the former St. Louis Browns and played minor league baseball for many years. After his career as a baseball player, Ned became a carpenter and worked independently throughout the North Shore doing carpentry work and building. Ned enjoyed playing golf and cards and was a long time member of the Thomson Country Club in North Reading. Besides his loving wife Fran, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ned and Kristen Leone of Newbury and his daughter Kym Leone of Amesbury, his grandson Christopher Leone and by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jerry, Daniel, Louis, Julio and Nancy. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday form 1:00 until 4:00 PM. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
