Ruth was as thoroughly a kind, considerate, loving and warmly genuine person, as I have ever met. Her generosity serves as a benchpost for me and my family. I was most impressed with her work with the Haitian community where, she her husband, the late Rev. Robert Barber served as missionaries and mentors to impoverished children. They, skillfully, managed to transfer funds, directly, to the most needy.
Ruth and her husband married later in life and were such a loving couple. Ruth was a shining star and her presence will be sorely missed.
There will be a severe
void here on earth but, you will be quickly embraced by HIm.
Forever in our prayers, Ruth.
We will all miss Aunt Ruth; she not only brought new Energy to Uncle Rob, but was a refreshing addition to our Family when she married Uncle Rob. I can still recall many conversations at my Mom & Dad's after our Thanksgiving Dinners. Cleanup times were the Best Times to hear their Funny stories or to catch up with the latest Goings On within the Family. Ruth was the one we could get the Inside Scoop regarding Uncle Rob. She would sometimes reveal Uncle Rob's vulnerabilities with a Sheepish grin!:)

At Thanksgiving Dinners our House was an Ecumenical one with the delightful presence of my Aunts, the Nuns, from my Mom's side of the Family. It was always a Toss-up when it came to the Dinner Blessing, one of the Nuns or Rob!:)

Ruth & Rob was that Characteristic, "Peas & Carrots"!
Ruth was a vital part of the Stroke Survivor's Club at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital. For many years Ruth assisted Miriam Raymond in the monthly support and educational meetings of the club. I have fond memories of Ruth being extremely helpful to me when I took over the Coordinator position and how she would always relate historical information and helpful hints concerning the club. She was a beacon of hope to many stroke survivors and will be long remembered for her kind and gentle ways. God Bless her spirit.

I am sorry to hear about Mrs. Barber. I met her and her husband Reverend Barber back in the 80's. The Reverend baptized both my daughter's. She was a very sweet and caring person. May she rest in peace.

I am so sorry to learn of Ruth's passing. She was such a vibrant, positive person, and a role model for me in my work in Haiti. I was blessed to be able to bring some of my Haitian students to meet her (Carlot Dorve, whom she knew from St Vincent's School, Fred Clovis Ottley, Ralph Stanley Jean-Baptiste and Mackelder Saintilus) in May of 2010, and she delighted them with stories about her many years serving as a volunteer nurse in Haiti. She will be misssed, remembered and appreciated for many years to come. Blessings!

I will always love you, Ruth. Both you and Bob were the true realization of living and demonstrating God's love here on earth. The Lord truly blessed you with a spirit of compassion and joy. Now the Lord has called you home. Bob is waiting for you with open arms. Go to him and enjoy your reunion with him. No more pain; only everlasting love. Rest peacefully, good and faithful servant.
