Obituary of Patricia A. (Hayden) Willey

Patricia A. Willey Patricia A. Willey, age 81, of Peabody and formerly of Marblehead and Dracut, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, February 18th. She was married to David M. Willey for 59 years. Born in New York City on February 18, 1931, daughter of the late William Milton and Gertrude (Wefers) Hayden, Pat grew up and attended school in Marblehead, graduating from Marblehead High in 1949. She attended Boston University where she received her secretarial certification. She held a number of secretarial positions including seven years at Northfield Mount Herman in Northfield, MA, and ten years at the Merrimack Housing Partnership in Lowell, MA. Pat also lived with her family in Branford, CT, Birmingham, MI and Greenfield, MA. Pat was very active in the Catholic Church parishes in which she lived, including Blessed Sacrament Parish in Greenfield, MA and Saint Marguerite Parish (St. Theresa) in Dracut, MA where she was a lector and a leader in the CCD and RCIA programs. For years she attended retreats at the Campion Renewal Center in Weston, MA. During those retreats Pat took many notes that she summarized in a booklet that was published in 1998, entitled The Wit and Wisdom of Father Walchers. Besides her husband, Pat is survived by her two sons, Doug and his wife Sally of Hampstead, NH and grandchildren Elizabeth and Matthew; Rob and his wife Beth of Scarborough, ME and grandchildren Dan and Diane; and her brother Joseph Hayden and his wife Lucy of Rockville, MD and nephew Michael and niece Laura. Arrangements: A memorial Mass for Patricia will be held in the Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA, on Monday February 27th at 10:00 AM , followed by a reception in the Macintosh Catering Room to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the Brooksby Village Benevolent Care Fund, 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960. Funeral planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
