Obituary of Frederick McNeilly
Frederick McNeilly, 85 years, husband of Dolores C. (Bastain) McNeilly of Peabody died Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Lahey Clinic North in Peabody.
Mr. McNeilly was born June 18, 1917 in Peabody son of the late William and Mary (Mitchell) McNeilly. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident. During WWII he served as a Motor Machinist’ s Mate, 3rd Class with the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Area.
Mr. McNeilly was employed in the maintenance field first working at the former Federal Machine and Kulakowski Cos. both in Salem. He then worked at the Beverly Depot from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #7642 in Hiram, ME. During his leisure time he enjoyed tinkering with bicycles for family and friends. He also enjoyed being with his grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, he is survived by two sons and their wives, James R. and Carol McNeilly of Danvers and F. David and Roseanne McNeilly of East Falmouth; six grandchildren, Andrew and Liam McNeilly of GA, James McNeilly of Beverly, Catherine Heck of Woburn, Michael McNeilly of FL and Brian McNeilly of CA; 5 great grandchildren; two nephews, James McNeilly of Essex and David McNeilly of PA. He was also the brother of the late William, James, Walter and David McNeilly.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location 978-531-0472 to which relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
