Obituary of Alice M. (Rogan) Samson

Alice M. (Rogan) Samson, 85 years, of Peabody formerly of Lynn, wife of the late Raymond F. Samson died Friday at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem after a brief illness. Mrs. Samson was born March 19, 1917 in Boston daughter of the late James and Alice (McConville) Rogan. She was raised in Framingham and graduated from Framingham High School class of 1935. Prior to making her home in the North Shore area she had resided in Boston. She was employed as a practical nurse and worked in several north shore nursing homes until her retirement in 1979. She was an active member of the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center and was editor and writer of the community newsletter known as Down Memory Lane . When she wasn’ t busy being an editor she enjoyed being with her family. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorraine A. and Frederick Keough of Peabody and Lucille A. Samson of Salem; a son and his wife, James R. and Carol Ann Samson of Roslindale ; seven grandchildren, Laura Lundblad of Lynnfield, Frederick Chip Keough, Jr., Lorraine Hartney and Raymond Judit all of Salem, Anthony Ponticelli of Beverly, James and Matthew Samson of Roslindale; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. A nephew, James F. Tavares of Brighton. She was also the grandmother of the late Jacqueline Desjardins and David Keough. she was also predeceased by her brothers and sister, Joseph and James Rogan and Ann Lorraine Tavares. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or Mass. General Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA.
