Obituary of Francisco Patricio Medeiros

Francisco Patricio Medeiros PEABODY—Francisco Patricio Medeiros, 81, died on Saturday March 3, 2012 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Eugenio Medeiros and Teresa Ascuncao Medeiros. He lived there for 44 years, then moved to the United States, settling in Peabody where he lived for the last 38 years. Mr. Medeiros was a hard working man who always had his priority to take care of his family. Francisco enjoyed music, and played the 12-string Portuguese Guitar. He played with many festivals in the Azores, and loved to entertain playing for family and friends at social gatherings. He played mostlyPortuguese fados, similar to Portuguese Blues. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and had a gift for telling stories which was also reflected in the music he played. He was very family oriented, and would often take his grandchildren and family to Salem Willows. He is survived by his nine children, Eduarda Medeiros of OH, Maria Gorete Medeiros of Peabody, Fatima Medeiros of Salem, NH, Antonio Medeiros of Newton, NH, Cidalia Maria Medeiros of VT, Zita Medeiros and George Medeiros both of Peabody, Teresa Medeiros of TX, and Carlos Medeiros of Peabody; 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Eduarda Almeida Rodrigues of Peabody, and shared 35 years of marriage with her. He was the last living person of his family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
