Obituary of Barbara G. (Ballard) Tedford
Barbara G. (Ballard) Tedford, 84, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Robert O. Tedford, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012 with her family at her side at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home.
Barbara was born in Peabody on May 6, 1927 daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Ray) Ballard. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1944 and was a long time resident of the city.
Barbara began her working career as a confidential secretary at the Interstate Commerce Commission, and then worked as secretary to architect Robert Forbes who designed the North Shore Shopping Center. Following the completion of the shopping center she remained employed for 10 years in the administrative office of the Allied Stores Corporation. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Barbara was a real estate broker at the Topsfield Town Crier for 10 years.
Barbara was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family and later cherished her 2 grandchildren. Most recently her precious great grandchildren have been the love of her life. For many years Barbara and her husband Robert were very active in square dancing traveling extensively with the group, and also wintered in Florida. She was a member of the Mt. Burnett Chapter 119 Order of the Eastern Star in Danvers.
Barbara’s family wishes to express special appreciation to the Grosvenor Park staff for the dedication and excellent care rendered to their loved one during her stay at their facility.
Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted children, Cheryl A. DiLorenzo and Larry F. DiLorenzo of Peabody; her cherished grandchildren, David DiLorenzo of Abington and Darren DiLorenzo of Peabody, her precious great grandchildren, Jordyn, Madison and Danielle DiLorenzo all of Abington.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan Street, Danvers. Reverend Lawrence L. Wimmer will officiate.
