Obituary of William G Kajos

William G. Kajos, 85, of Peabody, died Sunday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Irene (Brown) Kajos with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Kopanelli) Kajos. He was raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1944. After high school, William enlisted with the United States Naval Air Corps and served during World War II before being honorably discharged in 1946. After the war, William attended Boston University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He continued on to Columbia University Business School and received his Master of Science degree in Industrial Relations. William worked throughout the North Shore in the industrial labor relations field from Gloucester to Wakefield; most notably for Shetland Inc in Salem and finally before he retired, he worked 10 years as Director of Industrial and Labor Relations for Baker Industries. He was a member of the Jordan Lodge in Peabody and was a Boston sports fan enthusiast who especially liked watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He was an avid reader, but most importantly he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed being with his family and sharing in all of their endeavors. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Barbara Kajos of Westborough, a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Lane Nordquist of Beverly, a sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Theodore Giftakis of Peabody and is also survived by his three loving grandchildren, Jacqueline Kajos of San Francisco, CA, William Kajos of Westborough, and Alexandra Nordquist of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by Services at 11:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the St. Vasilios Bell Tower Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
