Obituary of Judith A. "Judy" Maguire
Judith A. Judy Maguire of Salem formerly of Peabody, loving companion of George A. Prunier of Salem, died on Tuesday at her home after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Her family surrounded her.
Ms. Maguire was born on August 1, 1954 in Chelsea, daughter of Arthur M. and Joanne C. (Lawrence) Maguire of Peabody. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1972. During her high school years she was a football cheerleader and was quite athletic. She has been a resident of Salem for the past 18 years.
Ms. Maguire was employed as a staffing specialist at Vantage Temporary Services in Peabody. Prior to this, she was branch manager at the Salem Five Vinnin Square office. Judy traveled extensively in the United States and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean. As an avid sportsperson, she enjoyed skiing, swimming, boating, walking and reading. Her whole life revolved around her family and her childhood girlfriends who have remained inseparable. Judy was the organizer for their group when it came to reunions etc.
In addition to her parents and companion, she is survived by 3 brothers, Lawrence M. Maguire of Haverhill, Michael A. Maguire of Peabody and John M. Maguire of Beverly; 2 sisters, Kimberly A. Maguire of Beverly and Patti Ann Maguire of Peabody, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, her dearest friends and dog Guido.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
