Obituary of Alton McGrath
Alton McGrath, 96 years, of Peabody, husband of the late Helen M. (Shaffaval) McGrath died Sunday at the Hunt Nursing and Rehab Center in Danvers.
Mr. McGrath was born Dec. 3, 1906 in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada son of the late Ernest and Mary Ellen (Ellis) McGrath. He immigrate from Canada to Lynn in 1924 and resided there until moving to Peabody in 1958.
Mr. McGrath was a career baker and worked at Bloods Bakery in Lynn for 45 years retiring in 1968. During retirement he enjoyed playing cards and fishing and was an all around sports enthusiast.
He is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Robert and Mercedes McGrath of Nashua, NH and Richard and Haruko McGrath of Simpsonville, SC; two daughters and a son-in-law, Judith McGrath-Malko and Joseph Malko of Newburyport and Virginia Blair of VT; a sister, Amelia Keefe of Saugus; 7 grandchildren, Karen and Eugene McGrath of SC, Tammy Giles and Wendy Tinkham of Newburyport, Laurie McGrath and Christine White of NH and Kathleen Barrett of TX; four great grand children and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Connie Darrak and brother of the late Ernest, Milton and Fred McGrath and Esther Walker.
His funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. Peabody location. The Rev. Kenneth Steigler will officiate. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody

Kenneth Steigler will officiate. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 7 pm. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
