Obituary of Claire (Sullivan) Caulfield

Claire (Sullivan) Caulfield, 79, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Caulfield with whom she shared 22 years of marriage. Born in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Gaffney) Sullivan. She was raised and educated in South Boston, upon her marriage she moved to Lynn and has lived in Peabody for the past 51 years. Claire worked at Hanscom Air Force Base as a secretary before her children were born and then later returned and worked in the Geo Physics Lab as an editorial assistant until her retirement 17 years ago. After her retirement she worked as a receptionist at Peabody Council on Aging for the past 15 years. Family was everything to her and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great grandchild. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Suzanne Caulfield of Georgetown, her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Balestraci of Peabody and Cathy and Patrick Andre of Hamilton, her sister, Mary Sullivan of South Boston, her sister-in-law, Elaine Sullivan of South Boston, her five grandchildren, Joseph Balestraci, Jake, Matthew and Emma Andre, and Joseph Caulfield, her great grandchild, Aiden Andre and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Colleen Caulfield and sister of the late John Sullivan. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody, which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
