John Perry
PEABODY—John Perry, 78, beloved husband of the late Lillian (Millner) Perry, died unexpectedly Monday evening April 2, 2012 at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital while in the comforting presence of his family.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Manuel and Olympia (Santos) Perry, and was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Perry was a hard working man, and worked for the City of Peabody for many years. He first operated the trash removal trucks. Later he was a Mason for city projects, and lately was a Bus Monitor until retiring a few years ago.
John was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1409 of Peabody and the Italian American Club of Peabody. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Union, Local 0364 and the AFSCME Union. He enjoyed traveling to Aruba and his daughter’s camp in New Hampshire. He will be remembered as always wanting to get together with people and enjoyed many a good party.
He is survived by his three daughters, Ann Marie & her husband David Twiss and Maureen & her husband Joe Fagundes, and Doreen & her husband Roy Ortins all of Peabody; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Perry of Peabody, three Godchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was the youngest of 18 children, and was preceded in death by siblings Arthur, Alberto, Anthony, Abel, Gerry Perry, Ida Cotoni, Mary Texeira, Anna Santos, Doris Edwards, Evelyn Santos, and Dorothy Sharkey.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to either Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
