Sophie M. (Olszewski) Apostolides
PEABODY-- Sophie M. (Olszewski) Apostolides, 85, beloved wife of the late James Apostolides, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday April 5, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Bertha (Przetakiewicz) Olszewski. She grew up in Salem, and graduated from Salem High School. She lived in Bridgeport, CT for 13 years, and lived in Peabody for the last 41 years.
Besides making a great home for her family and enjoying her nurturing role, she worked for CBS Hytron in Salem, and also Vincent’s Potato Chips of Marblehead. While she lived in Bridgeport, CT she was a Teacher’s Aide.
Sophie was a member of the Peabody Council on Aging, loved dancing, and especially liked Lawrence Welk and Polka dances. She had a sharp mind and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and getting out of the house for road trips with her daughters.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathi Masse of Middleton, Maria Vinci of Peabody, and Elaina & her husband Edward Laskey of Beverly; two step-sons, George & his wife Claire Apostolides of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard and John Apostolides of Newburyport; three grandchildren, Erika and Jason Masse of Rowley, Crystal Masse of Middleton; two step-grandchildren, James and Peter Apostolides; three great-grandchildren, John, Jackson, and Jaden; a sister, Martha & her husband Bob York of Palm Coast, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by a son Theodore Kalivas and brother Theodore Olszewski.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. P
