Obituary of Joseph J Brooks

Joseph R. Brooks, 82, of Peabody, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Friday April 6, 2012. He was the husband of Beverly (Boynton) Brooks with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Charles and Agnes (Lennon) Brooks of Dalton, MA. He was raised and educated in Dalton and was a graduate of Dalton High School. Joseph served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan for 2 ½ years before being honorably discharged in 1952. After the war, he worked as a supervisor for D.S. Greene Tool & Dye Company for 40 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Kenneth Swymer of Keene, NH, two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Vitoria Brooks of Arlington and Kevin and Barbara Brooks of Pleasanton, CA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Parker of Pembroke, NH, Kenneth Jr., and Kylie Swymer both of Keene, NH, Faith Foote and her husband Colin of Voss, NC., Michael and David Brooks of Pleasanton, CA., Isabella Brooks of Arlington, and Vito and Gabriella Costa of Malden, four great grandchildren, Emma and Ryan Parker of Pembroke, NH and Christian and Alexis Swymer of Keene, NH. He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. His Wake will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody.
