Obituary of Cecil A Kelly

Cecil A. Kelly, of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Marjorie (Velez) Kelly with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late John and Minnie (Cherry) Kelly. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School and later attended Machinist Trade School. After high school, Cecil worked at General Electric before entering the United States Seabees during World War II and was in the battle of Okinawa. He then returned to General Electric and held many positions at GE from fabrication set-up to Supervisor of Quality Control and was an administrator of the Employee Assistance Program, with whom he set up with assistance from Boston University. He retired after 43 years in 1987. He was a member of the IUE where he was an assistant business agent and treasurer. He also was a Mason and Member of the Amity Lodge AF & AM in Danvers and the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Donald and his wife Donna Kelly of Bard, CA, Kathleen Kelly and Colleen and her husband Dan Boling, all of Ft. Flower, TX., Lorie and her husband William Malinsky of Ventura, CA and their son Matthew, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Clemey Velez, Ronald and Iris Velez, and Henry and Mary Velez, all of Peabody and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
