Obituary of Alfred J. DiStefano
Alfred J. Di Stefano, 63, beloved husband of Pamela (Ennis) DiStefano of Peabody, died suddenly and unexpectedly at the North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital in Lynn after taking an ill turn at his home on Wednesday.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Helen (Wagner) DiStefano. He lived in Quincy for most of his youth in Wollaston, and attended Quincy public schools. He graduated from North Quincy High School.
Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in the beginning of the Vietnam Conflict.
He started his own business, Altec Pest Control based in West Peabody and operated that for nearly 35 years.
Mr. DiStefano was a Musician, playing Saxophone and Flute with Serenade and most recently with Fortune, along with his son.
He loved Volkswagon cars, and was rebuilding a 1958 and had mini car collections of varying Volkswagon Beetle, Van, Bus, etc.
He is survived by: his wife, Pamela (Ennis) DiStefano of Peabody, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Darren & Catherine DiStefano of West Newbury, Peter & Michelle DiStefano of Haverhill, and Derek DiStefano of Peabody; three grandchildren, Christina DiStefano of West Newbury, and Jonathan & Olivia DiStefano of Haverhill; two brothers, James DiStefano of Canterbury, NH and John DiStefano of East Brunswick, NJ; two sisters, Rosemary Leary of Plymouth and Janet Damon of Brockton, his mother-in-law, Gertrude Ennis of Quincy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert DiStefano.
His Funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. Peabody location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 PM. Cremation will follow the Funeral Mass.
