Obituary of Stella (Gerakaris) Harris

Stella (Gerakaris) Harris, 89, of Peabody, wife of the late Christo F. Harris, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Peabody Glen Health Care Center. Mrs. Harris was born in Peabody on February 25, 1923 daughter of Andrew and Helen (Papadeas) Gerakaris. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. Stella was employed for 30 years as a Sales Clerk at Jordan Marsh at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody retiring in 1985. She dedicated her life to creating a home and caring for her daughter Georgia. Stella who was a lifelong member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody had a wonderful voice and sang in their choir for many years. She enjoyed cooking, participating in family events and spending time with her many friends, and was a huge fan of the Red Sox. Stella is survived by her cherished daughter Georgia Harris of Peabody; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was pre deceased by her siblings, Calliope Reale, Eugene Gerakaris, John Gerakaris and Nicholas Gerakaris, Peabody Fire Chief, Ret. Stella’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, April 20, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
