Obituary of Maria da Conceicao M. Tavares

Maria da Conceicao (Machado) Tavares, 57, of Irving St., Salem Died Thursday at the Salem Hospital after a one year illness. She was the wife of Humberto R. Tavares. She was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal on December 1, 1944, the daughter of Gilberto Machado of St. Miguel, Azores and the late Maria do Carmo (Moniz) Machado and been a resident here in Salem for the past 22 years. She was a machine operator at the Ivex Corp. of Peabody for the past 20 years. She Was a member of lthe Holy Ghost Society and Our Lady of Fatima Church. Surviving her besides her husband of Salem and her Father of St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal are a son And daughter-in-law, Mario Fernando and Theresa Rodrigues of Peabody, 2 daughters And son-in-laws, Maria S. and Francisco Nunes of Peabody and Maria L and Fernando Bettencourt of Salem; 3 sisters, Gloria Moniz of the Azores, Portugal, Ana da Silva and Maria dos Anjos Salsa both of Toronto, Canada; 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Dereck and Sabrina Nunes of Peabody and Caitlyn Bettencourt of Salem. She was the sister of the Late Joao Manuel Bettencourt and Natalia Machado and the grandmother of the late Joshua Bettencourt. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Friday from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Relatives and friends Are kindly invited.
