Joanne I. (Jacques) Walsh
PEABODY—Joanne I. (Jacques) Walsh, 75, of Peabody, passed away Sunday May 13, 2012 at the Beverly Hospital, after a long battle with COPD. She was the loving wife of William “Billy” Walsh, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
Joanne was born in Salem, and later moved to Beverly. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Jacques (with whom she shared her great love of soap operas) and Romeo Jacques. She lived in Peabody for over 40 years.
During the 1950’s, Joanne worked at Sylvania in Danvers, where she made many friends. She worked at Lorenzo’s Bakery and Danversport Bakery during the 1980’s.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her three daughters, Joanne M. and Cheryl A. Walsh, both of Peabody, and Cynthia L. and her husband Thomas Drozewski of Methuen. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Jacques of Hamilton, Virginia (Walsh) Trask and her husband William, and Rose Walsh of Melrose (formerly of Beverly); three sisters, Rita Cole & her husband Gerald of Beverly, Rose Romanovitz of Peabody, and Cecile Ward of Merrimac, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the sister of the late John Jacques. She was a kindhearted soul who easily befriended everyone and never turned down a friend or relative in need.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Thursday May 17, 2012 at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
