Obituary of Angelica "Mama Chong" Chong Kcomt
Angelica Chong Kcomt, “Mama Chong”, 91 of North Andover and formerly of Peabody, died Tuesday at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in No Andover after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Higinio “Papa Chong” Chong Liu with whom she had shared 64 years of marriage.
She was born in Pacasmayo, Peru on July 4, 1920, and was raised and resided there before coming to the United States in 1972. She lived primarily in the North Shore area including Peabody and most recently in North Andover, MA.
She was a great cook, homemaker and a nurturing mother and was a very religious person all her life. Angelica enjoyed traveling with her family and had visited many cities in the United States and Canada.
She is survived by four sons, Antonio Chong and Raul Chong both of North Andover, Alexander Chong and Roberto Chong both of Lawrence, two daughters and son-in-laws, Netty and Michael Lyons of Peabody, and Sara and Philip Von Guggenberg of San Francisco, CA, her five grandchildren, Michael Lyons of Chagrin Falls, OH, Kenneth Lyons of Seattle, WA, Kimberly Love of Topsfield,MA, and Miriam Von Guggenberg and Beatrice Von Guggenberg both of San Francisco, CA, her great grandchildren, David and Jonathan Lyons , Noah Lyons and James Love, her sisters and brothers, Olimpia Chang, Elva Cumpa, Emma Luna, Maruja Suppo, Urbano Kcamt and Cesar Tay all of Lima, Peru. She was the mother of the late Miriam Chong.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 845 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
