Obituary of Claire M. (Lansol) Young

Claire M. (Lansol) Young, 79, of Salem, died Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness at Spalding Kaplan Hospital in Salem. She was the loving wife of Edward J. Young with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Born, raised and educated in Beverly, Claire graduated form Beverly High School in 1951 and has lived in Salem for the past 50 years. In her younger years, Claire enjoyed to jitterbug and swing dance with her husband Eddie to Big Band Music. A dedicated wife and mother, Claire loved to cook and spend time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Besides her husband she is survive by her three children, Richard Young of Hampstead, NH, Cyndi Mezoff and her husband Robert of Salem, Christine O’Leary and her husband Jack of Haverhill, six grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas Young, Jessica Boyle, Rebecca Mezoff, Sean and Braeden O’Leary and two great grandchildren, Cooper Boyle and Damien Mallard, and by her sister Virginia Burns. Claire will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She was the sister of late Joseph Blanchard and Ralph Lansol. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow after the service at Harmony Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main St, Natick, MA 01760.
