Obituary of James T Mahan
James T. Mahan, 55, of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Peggy (Munn) Mahan with whom he shared over 30 years of marriage.
Born in Chelsea, he was the son of James and Jean (Burkhardt) Mahan of Peabody.
James worked as an operations and support specialist for the United States Postal Service in North Reading and Waltham for over 30 years. Jim was an avid cyclist, enjoyed woodworking, running, and weight lifting.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Sean and Kelly Mahan, both of Peabody, his brother Thomas Mahan and his sisters, Martha Mahan and her husband Forrest Sanborn and Paula and her husband John Doherty.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
