Obituary of Doris A. (Cormier) Swaczyk

Doris A. (Cormier) Swaczyk, 80, of Salem MA and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday at the Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Peabody Police officer Gustaf S. Swaczyk. Doris was born in Salem, MA on September 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Cleo and Yvette (Claveau) Cormier and was raised and educated in Peabody. She later resided in Newport Richey, Florida for five years before moving to Salem, MA seven years ago. Doris had been employed at the GTE Sylvania Company in Salem for 10 years and later worked as a supervisor for Medtronics in Chelmsford for 10 years prior to her retirement. She was an ardent sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Teams on television. She is survived by two sons, Stanley Swaczyk of Salem and William and his wife Trisha Swaczyk of Lynn, a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and John Howell of Salem, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Swaczyk Serino of Salem, three sisters, Elaine Nally, Claudette Lavoie and Carole King all of Salem, MA, five grandchildren, Heather, Samantha, Spenser, Bryan and Brandon, four great grandchildren, her closest friends of several years, Mona and Walter Magesky and James and Louise Nangle all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph Swaczyk and the sister of the late Michael Cormier. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM.
