Obituary of Gerald Duff

Gerald “Gerry” Duff PEABODY—Gerald, “Gerry” Duff, 75, died peacefully on Sunday June 3, 2012 at the Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY following a long illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Dr. Paul & Frances (Fitzgerald) Duff. He grew up in Peabody. He graduated from St. John’s Prep in Danvers, then from Fairfield University in Connecticut. After serving a peace time enrollment in the United States Army, he moved to Long Island area of New York. Mr. Duff was a Teacher in Islip, NY where he enjoyed his career of educating young men and women. Gerry was an excellent wood carver, besides enjoying many other hobbies. Among his creations was a welcoming sign at the entrance to “Duff House”, and a statue in tribute of his father, the late Dr. Paul Duff. He is survived by a son and two daughters, Edyie Duff-Andrews, Susan Duff, and Aaron Duff; five grandchildren, Gabrianna, Brendan, Aleki, Andrew, and Elizabeth; three brothers, Dr. John Duff of Byfield, Hon. Brian Duff of Glenview, IL, and Brendan Duff of Oceanside, CA,; a sister, Betty Murphy of Middleborough, and many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by his siblings Paul Duff, Jr., Ellen Pickering, Roderick Duff, Kevin Duff, and Sheila Duff. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Funeral Service on Friday June 8, 2012 at 11:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
