Obituary of George Mavroules

George Mavroules PEABODY—George Mavroules, 91, beloved husband of Alberta (McGrath) Mavroules of Peabody, passed away on Sunday June 17, 2012 at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late James and Stella (Zoubanea) Mavroules. He graduated from Peabody High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Mavroules worked with his brother-in-law’s family as a Foreman for 29 years with West Lynn Creamery in Lynn. Later he was in Sales with Kappy’s Liquors of Peabody until his retirement over 20 years ago. George was a member at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He was active in the St. Val’s Men’s Club. He enjoyed travel, especially cruises to Aruba. He also enjoyed horse racing, and liked animals, especially his cat Saun II which was one of his favorites. He is survived by his wife Alberta (McGrath) Mavroules of Peabody, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage; two brothers, Alex Mavroules and Charles Mavroules, both of Peabody; a sister, Penelope Scangas of Peabody; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by brothers Nicholas and Michael. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday June 21, 2012 from 10:30 to 12 Noon in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 P.M. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vasilios Altar Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
