Obituary of Chester J. "Chet" Bitchell

Chester J. Bitchell PEABODY—Chester J. Bitchell, 79, beloved husband of Eleanor (Twardowksi) Bitchell, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday afternoon June 24, 2012. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Jacob and Anastasia (Kozlowski) Bitchell. He graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1951, and then studied at Coyne Electrical Institute. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a veteran of the Korean War, with service in the United States Army. Mr. Bitchell was an Electrician with GTE Sylvania on Sylvan St. in Danvers for 30 years until retiring 15 years ago. Chet was a member of the Quarter Century Club with Sylvania, and a former member of St. Joseph’s Church of Peabody. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed living a quiet life with family, and adored his grandson. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Twardowski) Bitchell of Peabody, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; two sons, Michael Bitchell & his wife Jane and John Bitchell all of Peabody; a grandson, Christopher Bitchell, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by brothers Stanley and Fred, and sister Sophie Powers. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday June 29, 2012 at 10:30 AM for a Graveside Funeral Service in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Funeral planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
