Obituary of Marie (Fiatarone) Mottola

Marie E. (Fiatarone) Mottola, 89, of Newburyport and formerly of Peabody, died Thursday afternoon at the Anna Jaques Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Michael R. Mottola, Sr. with whom she shared over 65 years of marriage. Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Fucillo) Fiatarone. She was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. Marie lived in East Boston for over 27 years, later lived in Peabody for over 40 years and has spent the last 12 years living in Newburyport. Marie worked for over 30 years as a sales associate for Filenes at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody before retiring many years ago. She enjoyed cooking and spending time entertaining her family and friends and sharing in all of their endeavors. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Deena Mottola, Jr, of Newburyport, and Jerry and Sandy Mottola of Haverhill, her three grandchildren, Kim-Soo and Jason Mottola, both of Haverhill and Matthew Mottola of Newburyport, and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, John and James Fiatarone, Lillian DeSisto and Ann Morelli. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by Services at 10:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
