Obituary of Fred G. Herwig JR.

Fred G. Herwig Jr., 60, of Danvers, died peacefully Friday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born in Salem, MA on November 25, 1951, the son of Marie E. (Pegoraro) Herwig and the late Fred G. Herwig Sr.. Fred had resided at the PaulA.DeverSchool in Taunton, MA and later at the HoganRegionalCenter in Danvers for the past 25 years. Prior to his illness, Freddie enjoyed singing, playing catch, watching 3 Stooges Movies and most of all being a comedian. He would light up the room with his presence and He brought laughter to everyone around him. He loved the staff of HoganRegionalCenter as much as his own family. Most of all, he was devoted to his mother, “Mary.” Fred had participated in the Work Shops at the Hogan center and will certainly be missed by all who cared for him. He is survived by his mother of Peabody, a brother, Paul Herwig of Peabody, his two sisters and brother-in-law, Debra and Louis Gentile of Beverly and Diane R. Thomas of Peabody, his nieces and nephews, Louis and Tim Gentile, Heather and April Thomas and Kristen and her husband Paul Conde, and a great nephew, Nathan Conde. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral service will be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Grant Hoofnagle of the South Congregational Church, Peabody officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody.
