Obituary of Charles Alabiso
Charles Alabiso, 85, of Peabody MA, formerly of Woburn MA and Gulfport, Florida died Saturday, June 30, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born in East Boston, MA on December 6, 1926, the son of the late John and Rose (De Francesco) Alibis and was raised and educated in Somerville. He entered the US Army in February of 1945 and served overseas during WW 11 where he was headed for Japan just before the surrender occurred and was discharged in December of 1946. Charles then went to Franklin Institute where he received his degree as a draftsman.
He later became the proprietor of the Hillside Hardware in Burlington and worked in the Hardware industry for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1993. He then moved to Florida where he resided for 18 years moving recently back to Peabody. He enjoyed cooking and volunteering in different community projects. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and also was a member of the Sons of Italy in Florida.
Charles was the husband of the late Mary (Coletti) Alabiso. He is survived by a son, John Alabiso of Woburn, his grandchildren Joshua Mades-Alabiso and Hannah Mades- Alabiso both of Melrose, a sister, Camey Sorensen of Woburn and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life Service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne also at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
