Obituary of John J. "Jack" Regan
PEABODY—John J. “Jack” Regan, Jr., 77, beloved husband of Shirley (Pare) Regan of Peabody, died unexpectedly after taking an ill turn while on vacation in Poland Springs, ME.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John J. and Madeline (Currier) Regan, Sr. He grew up in Salem, and graduated from SalemHigh School, Class of 1952. He studied at NortheasternUniversity where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering, then went to Franklin Technical Institute to study machine drawing. He worked with several companies, including Mohawk Data Sciences, Thompson Electric Welder, and then Sylvania in Salem. After working in his career of Mechanical Engineering for over 10 years he made a decision to change careers. He received a degree for teaching from Fitchburg State College, and a Masters of Education from CambridgeCollege.
He served in the United States Army during peacetime after the Korean War, and continued service with the National Guard of Massachusetts until 1962.
Mr. Regan was a Teacher at SalemHigh School in the vocational trades/industrial arts. He taught drafting, woodworking, and other crafts until retiring 14 years ago.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Society of Peabody. He enjoyed going to Maine, taking road trips, and a trip to Ireland held many cherished memories. He always liked being at home with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Pare) Regan of Peabody, with whom he was about to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin & Annmarie Regan and Jeffrey Regan all of Peabody; a daughter, Suzanne Regan of Peabody; a grandson, Sean of Maine; two sisters-in-law, Debi & her husband Bob Bulmer of Lynn and Jean & her husband Barry O’Connell of North Andover, and was uncle of Shannon Bulmer & her boyfriend Michael Day of NH, Kathy & her husband Gene Nortier of FL, and Michael & his wife Louisa O’Connell of ME. Also, his dog Titan was an important part of his family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be to a charity of one’s choice.
