Obituary of Sister Frances Alicia LeBlanc, SND
Sister Frances Alicia, SND, of Worcester, died peacefully on July 9, 2012 at the Notre DameLongTermCareCenter in Worcester.
Sister Frances Alicia was born in Lynn on November 19, 1928 daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie (Nadeau) LeBlanc and was named Marie Jeanne LeBlanc. Sister Frances Alicia entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on August 5, 1946 and professed her Perpetual Vows on July 30, 1954.
Sister received her Bachelor of Arts in English from EmmanuelCollege in 1961; she then pursued her education and received her Massachusetts State Certification in Education in 1964 and the Archdiocese of Boston Advance Religious Certification in 1984. Her elementary teaching ministries were in Beverly Farms, Brighton, Danvers, Lawrence, Marblehead, Methuen, Newton, Peabody, Roxbury, Shrewsbury, Somerville, South Boston and Worcester. Later in her career, she was an ESOL teacher at the Notre DameLearningCenter in Somerville.
Sister Frances Alicia is survived by her many Sister of Notre Dame de Namur; 5 sisters, Yvonne Walsh of Peabody, Marie LeBlanc and Irene Testa both of Danvers, Rosemarie Minihane of Londonderry, NH, and Theresa Vienneau of Groveland; and several nieces and nephews. Sister was predeceased by her brothers, Norman LeBlanc and Raymond LeBlanc.
Sister Frances Alicia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Ipswich. A Prayer Service will be held at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Sister Frances Alicia’s name to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938.
