Obituary of Bruce Roy Allen

Bruce R. Allen, 63, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn and Salem, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 11, 2012 after taking an ill turn at work and was rushed to UnionHospital, Lynn where he was pronounced. He was born in Lynn, Ma on October 28, 1948, the son of Wallace R. and Adele M. (Mc Arthur) Allen and was raised there graduating from LynnClassicalHigh School in 1966. He then entered No Shore Community College and later enlisted into the US Army serving in the Vietnam era from 1968 until his discharge in 1971. Bruce then finished up at NorthShoreCommunity College and attended UMass at Amherst for 2 years. He was first employed at US Plastics in Lynn and then was employed at the General Electric Company, Lynn as a Calibrator for the past 30 years. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and belonged to the Danvers Fish and Game Club and the New England Orienting Team in Waltham. He loved to play darts and enjoyed playing golf at the Meadow Golf Club in Peabody and the Salem Municipal Course in Salem. He was a member of the Elks Golf league in Peabody. He also belonged to the VFW in Lynn and the Franco American Club in Lynn as well. He was proud of his daughter’s recent graduation receiving her doctorate degree and will be missed by his loving family. He was the former husband of Joan (Clifford) Allen. Bruce is survived by his parents of Eliot, Maine, his daughter, Allison Allen and her companion, Nathaniel Moynihan both of Salem, a brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Donna Allen of Georgetown, MA, a sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Robert Sullivan, R.N. of Eliot, Maine and several nieces , nephews and loving friends. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the family lot in PineGroveCemetery, Boston ST., Lynn.
