Obituary of Georgia (Mandragouras) Miragias

Georgia (Mandragouras) Miragias, 95, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Elias K. Miragias, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 13, 2012, while in the comforting presence of her family. Mrs. Miragias was born in Itilon, Greece, the daughter of the late George and Helen (Griveas) Mandragouras. She was raised in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. She was employed by GTE Sylvania in Salem. Following her marriage she became a homemaker and raised her family in Boston. She was a member of the Philoptohos at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Boston and in 1970 moved back to Peabody where she was a member of the Philoptohos at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. Mrs. Miragias loved to cook for her family and was known for her delicious Greek food and pastries. She enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening, her visits to Foxwoods, and watching the Patriots. Most of all, she was full of love and brought great happiness for all who had the opportunity to come into her life. She offered great hospitality to all who entered her home and was very much loved by her children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Miragias leaves behind her loving daughters and their spouses, Anastasia “Tess” Miragias, Helen and John Apostolides, Mary and Ross Richardson all of Peabody, and Connie and Kenny Barrett of Coral Springs, FL; her siblings and their spouses, Theodore and Joanne Mandragouras of Peabody, Mary Psalidas and the late Nicholas Psalidas of Gloucester, Peter and Vivian Mandragouras of North Reading, Harry and Joan Mandragouras of Beverly; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Jessica Barrett, Emily Barrett, Elizabeth (Richardson) and Dominic Pezzuto, and Jennifer Richardson; two great grandchildren Noelle and Nicholas Barrett; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Altar Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
