Obituary of Jean A. (Goodwin) Raucci

Jean A. (Goodwin) Raucci, 87, the loving wife of fifty years to the late Eugene Raucci, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with her family by her side. Mrs. Raucci is survived by her 6 children and their spouses, Robert and Beth Raucci of Haverhill, William and Christine Raucci of Peabody, Patricia and Michael McAleenan of Georgetown Island, ME, Cynthia and Anthony Gilardi of Danvers, Richard and Lucia Raucci of Virginia Beach, VA, and Lee and James Merrill of Peabody; 10 grandchildren, Dawn, Amy, Pia, Gina, Matthew, Anthony, Rachel, Mia, Samuel and Addison; 3 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler and Jack; special nieces Jeanne Ouellette and Joan Burns, and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Goodwin and sister Selma Jenkins. Mrs. Raucci was born in Peabody, on November 1, 1924, daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel (Verney) Goodwin. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a member of the First Baptist Church of Peabody. She graduated from the SamuelBrownGrammar School and Peabody High School Class of 1942. She studied chemistry at Lincoln Prep. in Boston. Mrs. Raucci pursued her education at Lynn Hospital School of Nursing becoming a Registered Nurse and a member of the U.S. Nurses Cadet Corps. During World War II, she affiliated at the BostonPsychopathicHospital, and HaynesMemorialHospital in Brighton. She worked through the polio epidemic at LynnHospital and the scarlet fever epidemic at GallysIsland. Jean was a lifelong member of the Lynn Hospital Nurses Alumni and a former member of St. Barnabus Guild for nurses. Mrs. Raucci was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family. She cherished spending time with her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and supporting their endeavors. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
