Obituary of Roland "Bob" A Moody, Jr.

Roland A. “Bob” Moody, Jr., 80, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn and Beverly, died suddenly at the UnionHospital in Lynn after being stricken at home. He was the devoted husband of Dolores (Faia) Moody with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Roland A Moody Sr., and Dorothy (Bourque) Moody. He was raised and educated in Beverly, later lived in Lynn and has spent the last 48 years living in Peabody. After graduating from BeverlyHigh School, Bob entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in March of 1953. Following his military service, Bob continued his education at NortheasternUniversity and received his degree in 1960. Bob worked for the Mitre Corporation in Bedford for over 40 years as an electronic engineer before he finally retired. In his retirement, Bob continued to work independently for his company MK Engineering for many years. Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors doing his yard work, gardening, and puttering around the yard doing various tasks. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle Moody of Dunstable, a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and James Murphy of Peabody, his three sisters, Dorothy Geisert of Ohio, Barbara Szafranski and Elizabeth Moody, both of Peabody and is also survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A private family was held on Thursday with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody. The family will receive condolences at the family home in Peabody on Saturday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to a charity of one’s choice.
