Obituary of Edward Mello
Edward Mello, 79, beloved husband of Phyllis (Skurski) Mello, died peacefully Saturday evening at the Salem Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Peabody, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the son of the late John and Margaret (Espinola) Mello. He attended Peabody schools, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1941.
Mr. Mello was a successful, self-employed businessman.
He loved to travel with his wife, dancing, boating, and spend free time with his family. He was also a member of the Gerry V Social Club.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Skurski) Mello of Peabody, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey & Bonnie Mello of Salem; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Gary Sexton of Danvers; three cherished grandchildren, Matthew Sexton, Wesley Sexton and Ashley Sexton, all of Danvers
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church Peabody/Salem line. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to Alzheimer’ s Disease Foundation.
