Obituary of Joseph M. King

Joseph M. King, 82, of Peabody, died Thursday evening, Auguts 2, 2012 at the NSMC SalemHospital after a short illness. He was the devoted husband of 51 years to Mary (Mc Mahon) King. He was born in Lynn, MA on August 29, 1929, the son of the late Michael and Barbara (Cook) King and was raised in Lynn graduating from Lynn Classical in 1947. He entered the US Army during the Korean War in 1951 serving overseas until his discharge in 1953. He then entered BentleyCollege receiving his BS Degree in 1956. Joseph had been an accountant with the former Bay Bank in Boston for over 25 years prior to his retirement. He had been a Boston Sports Fan and enjoyed watching his beloved Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. He had been an avid reader and also like to travel having taken trips with his wife to Alaska and Europe. He also enjoyed spending winters in Boynton BeachFlorida. Surviving him besides his wife Mary are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen A. and Lori King of Maynard, MA, Brian J. King of Boston and Jason J. King of Woburn, a sister Marie B. King of Sedona, AZ and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John C., Michael P., Thomas F. and Barbara King and Patricia A. “Nancy” Collins. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM . Burial will be in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody.
