Obituary of David E. Connors
David E. Connors, 68, of Danvers,MA, formerly of Peabody and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. David is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol (McManus) Connors and his three daughters, Caren and her husband Glenn Holmes of Danvers, Cheryl and her husband Tom Begin of Salem and Cynthia and her husband Allen Lord of Danvers. He also leaves behind his seven adored grandchildren, Cailee and Christopher Holmes, Courtney and Alyssa Begin and Katelyn, Patrick and Bridget Chafe. In additions are his sisters, Judy Sanborn of Billerica, Patricia Connors and her husband,Al Bell of Winthrop,and his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Linda Connors of Peabody and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Brighton, MA, the son of the late Henry and Virginia (Carey) Connors. He had resided in Worcester where he had survived the tornado of 1953 and then moved to Peabody with his family and met his soul mate and childhood sweetheart Carol when she moved into the house behind his.
He was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1961and went on to serve in the Unites States Army. He had been employed by the Unites State Post Office in Peabody, where he was a letter carrier and then a supervisor for 33 years before retiring and living his dream of wintering and golfing in Florida with his wife Carol.
Dave enjoyed playing golf in the summer at the Wenham Golf Club and in the winters at Maple Leaf Golf Club in Port Charlotte, Florida. He loved to tell stories of the time he played Little League when he was a boy and to say he was an avid Red Sox Fan would be an understatement. He was a big kid at heart and his greatest joy was the many times he got to spend with his grandchildren in Disney World.
He was a proud member of the Peabody Lodge of Elks, # 1409 and also in Punta Gorda ,Florida. He had served of the Peabody Licensing Board from 1982 until 1992. He will be deeply missed by his whole family and all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility.His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Mem. Park, West Peabody.
