Obituary of Stella (Bakas) Smallis

Stella (Bakas) Smallis, 84, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Louis A. Smallis with whom she shared over 61 years of marriage. Born in Peabodyon July 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Christos and Vasiliki "Bessie" Bakas. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody. Upon marrying her husband in July of 1947, her primary focus was being a housewife and taking care of her family. She loved being a mother and later a grandmother and watching and enjoying all of her family's endeavors, she will be dearly missed by all. Stella is survived by her two sons, Christopher Smallis of Arlington,VA., and Ernest and his wife Laurie Smallis of Temecula,CA, her "adopted" sons, Mark Sampsonis of Shrewsbury and Michael Sampsonis of Kingston,NH, her two grandchildren, Stephanie and Andrew Smallis and by her four great nephews, Daniel, Jeremy, Jacob and Tyler Sampsoni. She was the sister of the late James Bakas and Esther Sampsonis. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody and her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
