Obituary of Beverly "Bev" (Hastings) Hinchion
Beverly Bev Jane (Hastings) Hinchion, 80, of Peabody,
died Monday evening at her home surrounded by her family after a 3 month illness. She was the wife of retired Peabody Postmaster James J. Hinchion with whom they recently shared their 60th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Newport, NH on July 26,1925, the daughter of the late Leo W. and Doris E. (Wright) Hastings and was a graduate of Towel High School in Newport. She met her husband while employed as a secretary and he was enlisted in the US Navy. They were married on September 29, 1945 and had resided for the past 60 years in Peabody.
She was the head waitress at the former Colonial-Hilton Restaurant in Lynnfield for 27 years prior to her retirement.
She loved to swim and was an avid member of Health works Fitness in Salem for the past 30 years.
She enjoyed swimming and wintering in Florida with her husband. Her hobbies included knitting, drawing and going to line dancing twice a week. But her real pleasure came spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving her besides her husband are three sons and two daughter-in-laws, James L and Gerolyn Hinchion of Danvers, John J. Hinchion of Amesbury and Peabody firefighter Paul A. and Elizabeth Hinchion of Peabody; a daughter, Nancy J. Hinchion of Guilford, Ct., 2 brothers, Cedric W. Hastings of East Longmeadow, Ma and Wayne C. Hastings of Toms River, NJ; 12 grandchildren, James P. Hinchion of Danvers, Colleen Hinchion of Beverly, Kristine and Beth Ann Hinchion of Amesbury, Keith Hinchion of Winthrop, Kerry Worsencroft of Hamden, CT,
Shawn Worsendroft of Atlanta, Ga., Patrick, John, Michael and Daniel Hinchion all of Peabody and Dennis Hinchion of Melrose; 4 great grandchildren, Melanie Worsencroft, Gabriella, Stephen and Courtney Hinchion and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 am from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 in her memory.
