Obituary of Michael Tenedios
Michael Tenedios, 92, of Peabody,MA died peacefully early Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House ,Danvers, with his family at his side. He was the devoted husband of sixty years to Mary (Shachook) Tenedios.
He was born in Peabody on November 24, 1919, the son of the late George and Despina (Kirlis) Tenedios and was raised and educated here. He entered the US Army in 1942 serving in the Burma and Pacific Theater Campaigns during WW 11 before his discharge as an S/Sgt in 1946.
Michael then entered the leather industry and studied at Pratt Institute in New York as a leather chemist and first worked in the leather companies in Peabody and Woburn. He also resided in Florida where he attended the University of South Florida and later had lived in Minnesota before moving back to the east coast. He then began working as a chemist for the Irving Tanning Company in Maine in 1961 for 26 years until his retirement in 1987. He resided in Pittsfield Maine before moving back to Peabody 4 years ago. While in Maine, he had a garden and enjoyed cultivating roses and was also a member of the Lilac Society of America. He had been a fifty year member of the Redwing Lodge of Mason # 8 of Redwing,Minnesota and also a member of the ANAH Shriners of Maine. While in Peabody, he had been a member of the American Legion Post 153.
He is Survived by his wife Mary, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. George and Donna Tenedios of Winfield, PA and Kerry and Angela Tenedios of Danvers, MA, a sister, Anna Tenedios of Peabody, his five grandchildren, Catherine and Colleen Tenedios of Boulder, CO and Michael Tenedios of Winfield, PA, and Christina and Amanda Tenedios of Danvers, MA, his nieces and nephews, Denise and Michael Martwichuck both of Peabody and George Martwichuck of Beverly, and a dear nephew, Louie Bik of Peabody. He was preceded in death by his grandson Sean Tenedios and his sister, Mary Martwichuck.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 9:30 until 10:45 AM followed by Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
