Obituary of Manuel A. Lima-Silva

Manuel A. Lima-Silva SALEM—Manuel A. Lima-Silva, 67, beloved husband of Maria R. (Calheta) Silva, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday August 31, 2012, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose V. and Maria (Lima) Sousa. He grew up there, and lived there for 42 years. He moved to the United States, and lived in Salem for 25 years. While in St. Miguel, Mr. Silva was a Police Officer. He was a manager with Dunkin Donuts on Boston Street in Lynn for several years. Manuel was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. He was active in the Club Luis de Camoes and the Holy Ghost Society of Peabody. He loved gardening, and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife, Maria R. (Calheta) Silva of Salem, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage; four sons, Dinarte Silva of Peabody, Robert Lima, Victor Lima and Arlindo Lima all of Salem; three daughters, Manuela Lima of Peabody, Paula Ribeiro of Bristol, RI, and Tania Lima of Salem; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jose Silva of Fall River, Antonio Sousa of Peabody, and Joao Viveiros of St. Miguel, Azores; three sisters, Maria Lima of Lisbon, Portugal, Isabel Pacheco of Vancouver, Canada, and Madalena Barreiro of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at 8 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
