Obituary of Armandino da Silva Santos

Armandino da Silva Santos, 82, of Peabody died Wednesday evening at the Union Hospital in Lynn after a long illness. He was the husband of Marie R. (Rosa) Santos with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was born in Graciosa, Azores Islands, Portugal on June 28, 1923, the son of the late Joao and Alexandrina (da Silva) da Silva and had resided there before moving to Peabody in 1968. He had been a splitter with the Salem Suede Company for 19 years prior to his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and belonged to the Portuguese Marching Band of Peabody. Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Manuel D. Santos and Mario and Lynda Santos all of Peabody, two daughters and a son-in-law, Fatima and Manuel Nunes of Peabody and Maria G. Santos of Wayland; 5 brothers, (PS. Ed. Last names of brothers are all different) Candido Veiga and Joao Silva of the Azores, Portugal, Liontino Silva of Lowell, Selerino Silva of California and Arlindo Silva of Peabody; Eleven Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Orlando Silva. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
