Obituary of Edward S. Cayon

Edward S. Cayon PEABODY—Edward S. Cayon, beloved husband of the late Nancy (Pedoto) Cayon, died Friday evening August 31, 2012 at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village in Peabody, after a brief illness. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Remejio and Rosalia (Feijos) Cayon. He grew up there, and graduated from East Boston High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. As a member of the Army Air Forces, he was a Bombardier with the 28th Bomb Group & 404th Bomb Squad in the Japan Air Offensive. Upon returning after the war, Mr. Cayon was a computer programmer with Shawmut Bank of Boston. He was a pioneer in computerizing the check processing system at the bank, and enjoyed his 35 year career. Ed enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, and was very supportive of Little League Baseball and other children’s sports; and he also enjoyed playing cribbage. He was a Past President of the North Shore Skating Club, and liked a variety of music from the 1940’s swing, to Elvis and the early Beatles. He is survived by three daughters, Veronica & her husband Arthur Avakian of Franklin, Doreen & her husband Paul Kelly of Everett, and Stephanie & her husband David Pfeiffer of Winthrop; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother George Cayon of Winchester; a sister, Rosalie Clark of NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by his siblings Roy, Mario, Jimmy and Arthur Cayon, Mary Crosby, and Angelina MacDonald. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday September 5, 2012 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Cremation will follow the Mass. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
