Obituary of Carol A (Hynes) Papi

Carol A. Papi, 69, o fPeabody, died Tuesday morning at her sisters home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late James Papi. Born in Lynn, she was daughter of the late Francis and Geraldine (McGrath) Hynes. She was a lifelong resident o fPeabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1960. She continued her education at Salem State College and received her bachelors’ degree in education in 1964, and her master’s degree in 1968. Carol taught in the city of Peabody for over 48 years, retiring this past June. She first started her teaching career at the Kiley Schoo land for the past 39 years she taught at the Welch School. This past June she retired and the new play ground was named after her “The Carol A Papi Playground.” Carol enjoyed bowling and traveling, but her true passion was her devotion and dedication to all her students and family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Maglione of Peabody, her nieces and nephews, Janet and her husband Scott Schmink of Danvers, Christine and her husband Chris Ford, Robert and his wife Amy Maglione, and Peter Maglione, all of Peabody, her grand nieces and nephews, Ryan Maglione, Tyler and Mackenzie Schmink, and Kyle and Luke Maglione, and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Trudeau of Lynn, and her uncle Francis Burke of Peabody. She was the sister-in-law of the late Peter Maglione, Jr. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA01923.
